As a couple that has been dating for about 15 years (we were together about 5 years before we got married) we feel we need to shed some light on things. Working in college ministry for almost 10 years we have heard our fair share of dating disasters so we felt the need to give some of the more clueless people some clues. Also, because we are both very honest when it comes to these topics we thought it would be fun to not tell you who said what.
Girls, just because a guy carries a Bible doesn’t make him spiritually mature.
Guys, don’t buy what a girl is advertising.
Girls, if you aren’t selling anything don’t advertise.
Girls, don’t be offended when a guy wants to buy what you’re advertising.
If you didn’t pick up on it, the previous three tips are about dressing with character.
Guys, if a girl wants to see a romantic comedy on a date–take her if you want a second date or a third date…even if you don’t like it.
Guys & Girls, rated R movies are never a good idea on a date. You do not know why they are rated R so it’s better to error on the side of caution.
Guys & Girls, a little communication and honesty never hurt anyone.
Girls, don’t be offended when a guy does something out of practicality. Guys are pretty practical individuals. God made them that way for a reason.
Guys, don’t be a jerk if a girl cries or opens up about things. Girls are pretty emotional creatures so if you want to marry one you better be okay with that.
Guys, most girls want to be lead but they need to trust the guy that’s leading them so don’t take advantage of it.
Girls, God made you and cares about you. Don’t let a guy treat you like the common trash. You are special and you should expect him to treat you special.
Girls, on that last note, you should not expect a guy to sell his car to buy you things. Respect his job and his income level.
Guys, don’t go into some crazy debt over a girl.
Girls, just because a guy is friendly does not mean he’s hitting on you. Some guys really are nice.
Girls, if you have been going out with a guy for awhile and do not see yourself marrying him, let him go. You are wasting your time and his time and money. It is very selfish of you.
That’s about it. Trust us, we’ve heard some crazy dating stories so don’t think these tips are about you because you’re not the only one it’s happened to.
