Do you ever feel like you’ve lost complete control of your life? I’m there right now. In our house we’re ramping up for a busy holiday season that starts in mid-November and goes full steam until New Years Day. I know regrouping is necessary. Everyday in October I’ll be posting ways I regroup or ways I should be regrouping.
1. Clean your space.
Recently my husband and I returned from a quick trip to New York City and we were both completely exhausted. Our house was a pit from packing and unpacking, our pantry was bare, our refrigerator was bare and again, we were exhausted. Our first night back we did the necessities only: pre-made coffee for the next morning (priority #1), cleaned school uniforms, and packed lunches. The kids went to bed pronto and Mom and Dad went to bed at 8:00 PM. Do not judge.
The next night we allowed our kids to watch a little more TV than usual so we could clean our space. Normally, I’m all about the kids helping us clean but monitoring a 3 and 4 year old while they clean is the exact opposite of productive. We cleaned the main living areas: our bedroom, the living room, and the kitchen. Then we relaxed, played with the kids, and read some books. I cannot even explain how easy I rest knowing the majority of the house is clean. I suppose the mantra, “Clean house, clean mind,” is true in this circumstance.
