Last month when I made the list of titles for #Write31Days I wrote “Be Honest” on day 17. I don’t really know what my original thought was but because I love a good list I’m going to offer some thoughts on being honest.
17. Be Honest
Proverbs has a couple of things to say about honesty. Two verses in the twelfth chapter are as follows:
“Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.”
“The Lord detests lying lips, but He delights in men who are truthful.”
There’s a couple of way to be honest.
A). Be honest with yourself.
Who are you? Are you happy? Is there something rational you would like to change about yourself? What steps can you take to change those things? Are you happy the way God made you? Are you happy with where God has you in your life? Are you a life-giving friend? How can you make you walk with God better?
B). Be honest with others.
When friends ask your opinion are you completely honest with them? Why or why not? Would your friends consider you two-faced? Are you offended by that reality? How can you change that reality? Is the person your friends see the person you see in yourself? Is it your true self?
C). Be honest with God.
God created you. He knows you better than you know yourself. He knows more about you then you will EVER know about yourself. Are you pleasing to God? Can you change? Should you change? Noah was considered a friend of God; would you be considered a friend of God?
This post seems more like a journaling exercise but if you are truly trying to regroup journaling is probably one of the best exercises you can do during that time.
