Gearing up for the big detox I decided I would not replenish my regular protein powder. There is whole food protein smoothie recipe in the Daniel Plan book but this is my revised version based on what I already had at my house:
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
2 tbsp almond butter
1 frozen banana (I take the too ripe bananas, peel them, and freeze them in snack size baggies)
1 cup frozen triple berry mix from Target (includes blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries)
1 tbsp milled flax seed
water as needed
Place all ingredients in a blender and work your way up to “liquify” on the blender buttons. If you have a really nice blender you can probably go straight to ice crush. My particular $50.00 blender from Target–I start on the second to lowest function and work my way up to liquify. This smoothie contains a substantial amount of protein so it’s really good at filling your stomach. I have a smoothie everyday for breakfast. When I’m not detoxing I’ll put coffee instead of water with my plant-based chocolate protein powder.
